Not a good day by any means. But I am home with my pets and that always makes it better. I was real frustrated with myself today. I cried a good part of the day which can't be healthy. I think it's good to get emotions out but it can quickly spill over to the point of mental instability. I went to therapy for 10 years and I know better. I really do. But I take certain things very hard and being ultra-sensitive, I don't cope very well. And it pisses me off. This is hard for those non-crying people to understand but let me tell you, once you get going without putting the brakes on it is very hard to pull it all back in and be sensible. Once the emotions start spiraling out of control it is scary. You take what made you cry in the first place and just start piling on everything that is not right in your life. Then you are swimming upstream in a very strong river. My therapist, Cheri, would not be happy with me right now. "Julie, did I not teach you anything?!"
Back to my bad day. What started off my bad day was really not so bad after all. It's just something that needed to be talked out. That was taken care of pretty early on and all is well - in fact, probably better. I over-react...I know that. So all that bothered me from this morning is gone. But I dredged up so much other crap that I wish someone would give me a swift hard kick! When you start crying because your poodle got hit by a car when you were 5, you know you've hit bottom!
Anyway - I will be just fine. I'm loved, I'm cared about, and in the end - that's what matters.
In search of a new car. What a pain. So far Nissan and Mazda are winning the vote. VW and Scion still need to be checked out. Toyota - out. Kia - out. Chevrolet - out. Honda - out. Hyundai...not sure.
In just 10 days I cruise with the parents. Jeepers Creepers. Oh I hope it goes well. 5 days can be a very, very long time. Now THAT would be something worth crying about!
Time for jammies, a blanket, and my girls, Rox and Zoe! ♥

On Death, Pets, and Toilet Seats
Just realized something is missing...a post on this Blog is what is missing!
I didn't have a very good week. In fact it was downright crap. And somehow it is Sunday night and a new work week starts in just a few hours. Help me.
Friday was the worst. My Zoe had a mental breakdown. Seriously! Luigi took her to the vet for a shot and by the time she got there she had a high fever, frothing at the mouth, and drooling. Poor baby girl. Dr. Mendez thinks she just got too worked up on the drive over. She's been kind of quiet all weekend. She discovered the deliciousness of tuna tonight. I opened up a can and gave her a little. She scarfed it and wanted more. So I gave her more. And more. Little brat saw me throw the empty can in the trash bag. Which she dragged out onto the kitchen floor. Now she is just lurking in the kitchen like a junkie waiting for her next fix!
Had a nice day yesterday. My friend, Jeanette, went to church with us way up in nowhere land. I think she liked it! I love Jeanette - she's just awesome. We have good conversations and we laugh. We are both beginning new journeys this year and we will be an excellent support team for each other as our paths are very similar.
I attended a memorial service last night. It seems to be the norm lately. Way too many deaths. Not that death is a really bad thing. I mean, look at this world and how awful it is. Let's break that down to just this country. Crime, drugs, and a lot of sorrow. And then when you look at who is charge here on earth, it is downright frightening. So those who have lived a good life and are ready for some rest - death will bring them peace. No more pain and suffering. No more tears, disappointments, and sorrow. If you believe in the Bible and have faith you KNOW that there is something better to come. There have been people in my life that I really want to see again and I will have that opportunity in Heaven. My grandma died at 58 years old. I was 13 and didn't have near enough time with her. I want to make up for that. And while some people may think this is shallow or strange, one of my biggest reasons for wanting to be in Heaven? My pets. I just know they will be there. To me, that is enough reason right there - to spend forever with them is worth everything to me. Some people wonder if pets will be in Heaven and my answer to that is why wouldn't they be? If something brings you that much joy in life here on this crappy earth, then they will get to live in the perfect neighborhood up in the sky. A loving God is not going to keep our beloved dogs and cats and other creatures from us. I've got Roxie, Zoe, Blueberry, Cassie, Tabatha, Emily, Joe Friday, Jack, Cali, Beaky Bird, Fluff, Christy Timby, Susie, Puff Puff, and Buster. 15 perfect reasons! If you need a break-down that would be 5 dogs, 6 cats, and 4 birds.
Big news...I have a new toilet seat! Thanks to Rhonda who is my do-it-yourself-fix-it person! We went to breakfast at the Broken Yolk and then Lowe's and found a lovely round, white, seat. Such a selection - who knew? She was willing to help me install the beauty. I tried to unscrew something. I was there. I threw the trash away. And I learned that my screwdriver head flips over and turns from a philips to a slot. Incredible. Rhonda can do most anything - bless her! But let me tell you - there are some creepy toilet seats out there. The two toilet seats that creep me out the most are the wood ones and the cushion ones. No one should sit on a toilet long enough that they need a cushion. That's just wrong! But I saw the ultimate seat today...it was a cushion one with a cushion lid and there were pastel butterflys stiched on it. Rhonda said it reminded her of creepy Mariah Carey. Mariah Carey IS creepy. I bet she has a cushioned toilet seat...

Nativity Disaster
Christmas is over. The decor should be too. First off, we have the strangest neighbors ever. I have heard they are hoarders. They are just bizarre people no matter which way you look at it. They have two teenagers who never smile or act like they even might have a bit of personality. It's because they have the weirdest parents in San Marcos. They also have one of those little poodles from hell. His name is Cowboy. And he is a mean little dickens. He and Rox got into a fight one day and let me tell you who won that one...yep, my girl! Speaking of - I post a lot of pics of Zoe lately but none of my favorite girl dog. Here she is on Christmas Day...
That stuffed orange and yellow toy in front of her was her favorite present of the day. It's a lion's head. It squeaks and it's "d bomb" or so I'm told. She got so much stuff. There is a box of cookies right there. Of course, she was offended because they were Nutro Lite (Diet) cookies. I told her it's true. We both need to trim down a bit. She also got another toy and a brand new pink harness. She had a wonderful Christmas.
Back to the neighbors...they went all out with the Christmas decorating this year. Nothing attractive of course but decor nonetheless. They even strung lights on all of our lovely wrought iron. They hung lights on their upstairs balcony and also hung a star. They hung a wreath in our courtyard. And the most special thing of all...they put up a lovely nativity scene in our shared front grass area. I think it's made out of that hologram plastic stuff. It's the most awful looking thing ever. I think the purpose was to light it up so that we could see Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus every night during the holiday season. ONE night it was half lit. We could see Joseph and some other thing but that was it. The rest of it...nothing. The other lights? Nothing. And it was like this the whole season. Why in the heck do people go to this trouble to purchase this stuff at a garage sale and then not light it up? They certainly didn't buy it at a store so it had to come from someone's 1970's collection. And guess what? Yep, it's STILL up - unlit of course. Here's what it looks like during the day...
Actually as of today it looks worse than this because poor baby Jesus has fallen over into the dirt and one of the 3 Kings took a really bad spill too. Please notice the pretty disco like material. Please don't come over to visit until I say it's ok. I'm much too embarassed! But if you do come, they have a lovely lazy boy chair in a blue felt sitting on their front porch in case you want to stay a while... I know, I can always call the homeowner's association. No wait! They are on the association. Of course they are.

Missing: 1 Apatite Ring
My 3 day weekend started today at 1:45 when I left work. So nice!
As I sit here typing I can hear my Zoe playing happily in her bathtub. It used to be my bathtub but I gave it away. She collects her toys and puts them in there and then plays in there many times a day. Right now she is playing with a bottle cap from a soda bottle. Out of all her toys, her favorites are not the ones I spent a lot of money on but instead the free ones (i.e. bottle cap). This story leads me into my next story which is not so cute but entertaining nonetheless. People who really know me know that I am not a big fan of jewelry. Some of it's pretty and certainly if someone wants to buy me a round cut diamond, I would make the sacrifice and wear it. I don't see that happening so I revert back to the minimal jewelry thing. I have a few rings, very few, that I have received over the years or else purchased myself. I don't wear them but I have them and am fond of them. I have 2 tanzanites, 1 sapphire, 1 pearl, and 1 apatite. I keep them on a ring holder on my dresser. Well at least I used to. One day I came home to find the ring holder on the floor and the rings were gone! No sign of them anywhere. I looked for them to no avail. The rings were stolen and the ring holder knocked on the floor. I kind of had an idea what kind of thief I had but one is certainly innocent until proven guilty. Fast forward a couple of days... I am in bed asleep and hear the usual bathtub playtime commotion. I keep hearing a "clinking" sound. I finally got up to see what was going on and to my amazement there was a sapphire ring being batted around in the tub. I snatched it up and hid it. The next night? A multi-colored stone ring that I got in Catalina one year. I hid it. A week went by and I heard the "clink". Ran into the bathroom and much to my joy...my tanzanite. This wasn't just a tanzanite but a rather special tanzanite that I had received for my 42nd birthday. Not something that came out of a gumball machine. I was SO thankful to get it back. And last night? 1 pearl ring showed up. In the bathtub of course! Luigi found my other tanzanite on the floor in the bedroom. I am down to the apetite ring. I really would like it back. It's a light aqua stone - very pretty. I eagerly await the "clink".
Damn kitten! Here she is with her bottle cap...
And no, I do not shower with Dawn dish soap! Like I said, the bathtub belongs to Zoe. In addition, I have given up my whole bathroom to Zoe. That would be her dish soap for when she scrubs out her litter box. Uh huh - she's quite self sufficient. And I am lying. And that's all I've got for tonight! ♥
